Kristy Cavaretta

Kristy Cavaretta is an artist and mother of three living on the Southern Maine seacoast. Cavaretta is inspired by the domestic and natural worlds around her and enjoys exploring the tension between the two. With this series Cavaretta tells the story of the secret language of birds surrounding the sudden passing of her mother. Printed in blue to harken her Scandinavian heritage and the Delft pottery in her childhood home, the woodblock prints are cheerful and vibrant – a dance rather than doom – and a reminder to tell our stories while on this earth so that they do not disappear with us.
